Information Systems Technician

Job Description:
•Provides operational support for mission critical systems.•Supports a 24x7 operations center working day/night.•Serves as a first level service desk technician who records and identifies issues, attempts a first-call resolution to the issue, and assigns it to an appropriate workgroup if unable to resolve.•Updates existing incident and service requests in the Service Manager system.•Interacts with Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to restore service and/or identify and correct system problems.•Performs system backups - restores systems from backups.•Creates and maintains user profiles and accounts-User Account Management.•Monitors network and system activity and troubleshoots outages.•Executes procedures, in a sequential order to maintain system operations.•Shift work is required.
Qualifications:
•Requires a High School diploma and a minimum of 8 years experience in related field.•Proficient in Microsoft Office.•Requires working knowledge of various operating system platforms including: UNIX, LINUX and Windows.•Working knowledge of computer hardware components to include Hard Drives, System Boards, Interface Cards, Memory.•A candidate must have an ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) and to collaborate work in a team environment.
Additional Skill sets:
•Having shell or PERL scripting skills is a plus•Experience with admisitering Network devices to include routers and switches are preferred.•Knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles is desired.
This position requires the candidate to already possess an active TS/SCI clearance and to maintain the clearance.
